ANZSPM 2024 Biennial Conference - 30th Anniversary

30 YEARS OF PALLIATIVE MEDICINE: CONSTRUCTING, CHALLENGING, TRANSFORMING

5 - 8 September 2024, Adelaide, South Australia

We are delighted to announce the Australian and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine 2024 conference will be held in leafy Adelaide between Thursday September 5th and Sunday 8th September 2024.

This will be the 30th anniversary of the first ANZSPM meeting and we look forward to welcoming you to this very special meeting, with the theme; 30 Years of Palliative Medicine: Constructing, Challenging, Transforming.

We look forward to four days of engagement with international and national plenary speakers, workshops, invited and offered papers and posters, a trainee day, and satellite sessions, all surrounded with fun, fellowship and knowledge sharing. We are looking forward to celebrating the Australian and the New Zealand components of our Society, as well as the adult and paediatric challenges of our work.

ANZSPM's conferences have travelled the length and breadth of our country, and Adelaide last was the location of the 2012 conference. Its is pertinent to highlight the origins of our organisation, which first started with the charismatic pioneers from Adelaide. The ANZSPM 2024 Organising Committee is relishing the opportunity to deliver a conference and cultural experience to enhance your knowledge and spirit, to enable you to return you to your workplaces refreshed and invigorated.

The age of 30 suggests maturity and a time in life when one has some insights and experience, however we are continually learning, with room for further maturity and growth. The 30th Anniversary is a chance for us to reflect on our past achievements and how far we've come. We hope that this meeting will bring together our shared desire to provide high-quality, compassionate, person- and family-centred care for all people facing the approaching end of life, in a changing environment.

Adelaide is a place where many wonderful short or long-duration tourist options abound. Some of these include Adelaide’s Art Gallery, Museum, State Library, markets and shopping precinct, as well as an array of fine and casual dining. For those wishing to go further afield, there is the opportunity to visit Kangaroo Island, the Flinders Ranges and wine areas in the Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Clare and McLaren Vale, to name a few.

We look forward to welcoming you to Adelaide in person, in September 2024!
